Preliminary Layout

 Title: Deaf Heist 

 

Setting(s): Chicago, U.S, Washington Park neighborhood (ghetto, sort of poor neighborhood) a lot of crime and violence happen in the neighborhood such as shootings and gangs; Peak stone Group Bank (an investment bank that belongs specifically to all the rich people) on a busy weekday.  

 

Character(s): Kim (main character 18 years old), Mike (21, brother), Jimmy (19), Max (22) (cousins). The characters are all related  

 

Action(s):  

  • The main character and her family get ready to rob a bank 

  • They gather all of their weapons and guns they will be using  

  • Hop in a normal car and drive normally to the bank to blend in with the other cars and their behavior 

  • Run out of the car and rush into the bank 

  • Shoots the bank teller which causes chaos to occur in the bank  

  • People scream but other characters control it 

  • They rob and take the money then they run out of the bank to a different car which is the getaway car.  

  • They drive crazy and speed as cops are behind them and trying to stop them. They eventually have a shooting fight 

  • The characters throw a grenade at the car and the car explodes and crashes into other cars 

  • The characters speed in their getaway car and are able to get away. 

 

Plotline: Kim is an 18-year-old girl who faces an everyday struggle which is being born without being able to hear. She, followed by her older brother Mike who is twenty-one, her two cousins Jimmy(nineteen) and Max(twenty-two) are in a rush and are getting ready. They put on their outwear to get ready and put grenades and other weapons in their boots and clothes. They review the plan on how they will be robbing a bank as they are running to their car.   Then they will get into their car and head over to the bank while they listen to inspirational music before they arrive. They rush into the bank and follow the plan. Kim uses sign language to let the other characters know when they will do the first act. They all enter the bank calmy and act like everyone else. Kim approaches the bank teller and talks to him through sign language to show her where they kept all of the clients’ money. After the bank teller becomes anxious and nervous, he starts to panic and hesitate. Kim can’t waste any more time so she shoots him and kills him. Everyone begins to panic and chaos occurs in the bank once everyone sees they are robbing. People try to escape the bank but Kim’s brother and cousins stop them and shoot some of the people who were disobedient to them. Max and Jimmy have full power over the clients, and bank employees while Kim and Mike head over to the back of the bank and find some of the clients' money. They take whatever they can and they all leave as soon as they hear the alarm of the bank and the sirens of police cars that start to approach the bank. They put the money in a big bag they brought and they all run as fast as they can to the getaway car. They jump in the getaway car and drove insane and very fast. They were getting chased by the cops in the getaway car. Eventually, one police car shoots, and then a gunfight happens. The family wins and is able to escape, they then celebrate. Throughout the film, the main character and her family learn to work together to improve some skills to steal investment banks that belong to rich people. They all learn to work together and fight for everyone they have lost. They also learn how to live with what they have and own. They all help Kim face her daily struggles which are being deaf.

My initial thought was to work by myself on the portfolio project mainly because I like working alone and I don’t like people te lling me that my ideas are wrong. After some thought, I then realized that if I wanted to do the movie  project,  I would need someone that has that creative side to them because I  definitely  lack  in that area.  So,  I chose my friend  Juli  as my partner because we’ve been friends since ninth grade, and I know that she has that creative side to her.    When  doing the social media activity in class I looked at  Juli’s  Instagram  and Snapchat  accounts. Creativity & Genre

  I think  creativity is very important when trying something new. It  happens to be one of the main reasons why I chose  Juli  as my partner because she has that creative side to her that I don’t necessarily excel in.  In the Ted Talk, we watched in  class;  Duncan Wardle  talks about how work can  suppress  your creativity because it doesn’t allow you to  be creative because we think that we don’t have time to think. I can agree with this statement bec ause I also have never had my best thoughts at work. Wardle then goes on to use a drawing of a house as an  example of how limited our minds are to what we are told a house should look like. I can admit that I drew the basic house that he predicted everyone would draw  a n d this exercise made me start to think more deeply about what Wardle had to say.    In the new  introduction   activity,  we did in class I  chose shoes as my subject....
