Decision Day
I didn’t really have an initial impression of Premier Pro after participating in class tutorials because I already have a good amount of experience with it. In middle school, I took a class related to media studies and I would use Premiere Pro to edit the daily news, so I already know most of the main components of it I'm just a little rusty. InDesign, on the other hand, I was impressed with. I think InDesign is a really good program for editing graphics and pictures.
InDesign is perfect for the magazine portfolio and for adding your own touch to the picture. I'm still leaning towards the movie portfolio project because InDesign didn’t really show me anything that made me want to choose the magazine as my project. I think that I will be the most efficient and have the most fun editing my movie in Premiere Pro as I seem the gravitate to the film part more than anything. I think with Premiere Pro and other things I've learned in class I can do a pretty good job at getting my perspective across the board. Also, all of the different tools that Premiere Pro has with the audio and visual effects can be used to make a very visually pleasing video and I already have some experience with this effect which is also a plus.
In Wayne Cherry’s article, he talks about the importance of adults telling stories because of their experience and perspective and how they can shape the way students think. Even though I'm not an adult with a lot of experience I think that I can tell a story from my perspective with the help of a short movie. I think that with the four C’s: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, I can make a very interesting movie.
I'm not the most creative person but with the help of my group and my editing skills, our portfolio project won't disappoint. As of right now, I don’t have any ideas as to what I want my movie to be about or what ideas I want it to convey but I do know that once I set my mind to the project this finished product will be absolutely stunning.
